Edgar "Fast Eddie" Shotwell, a man who lived life with a full heart and an open throttle, passed away peacefully at his home on March 27, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a devoted father, a proud pawpaw, brother, uncle, and a true friend. Eddie was a free spirit who never missed an opportunity to lend a hand or bring a smile to those around him. Eddie's greatest pride and joy was his daughter, Madison, and his beloved grandchildren, Kinsley and Alexander, who lit up his world. He never missed a chance to share his crazy sense of humor and unconditional love with them. Whether it was a heartfelt conversation or an impromptu dance, his presence made everybody and every moment special. A Harley enthusiast through and through, Eddie found freedom on the open road, feeling most at peace with the wind in his hair and the rumble of his bike beneath him. He was always up for an adventure, and if there was music playing, you could bet he was either singing along or dancing like nobody was watching. His love for music was infectious, and his energy could turn any gathering into a celebration. Fast Eddie's need for speed extended beyond his motorcycle—he had a deep love for racing cars and his racing family at Maryland International Raceway, pushing limits and chasing adrenaline-fueled moments. Whether on two wheels or four, he lived for the thrill and never backed down from a challenge. At home, Eddie's heart belonged to his beloved dogs, Henry and Harley, his constant companions and sidekicks. And even in his most challenging moments, he found peace and happiness; making new memories with his trusted caretaker and friend, Stacey Wilkerson. Above all, Eddie was a giver. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand, whether to a friend in need or a stranger down on their luck. He believed in kindness, in showing up, and in making life a little brighter for everyone he met. Eddie is survived by his loving daughter, Madison Shotwell, and her fiancée, Tony Daniel; his cherished grandchildren, Kinsley, Alexander, ToniLynn, and Nathan. His stepdaughter, Samantha Matthews, and her fiancée, Bernie Brady; and her children, Brody, Ella, and Bernie. Stepdaughters Morgan & Sarah Hill. Eddie's love for family extended to his beloved brothers and sisters: Wayne & Ruth Shotwell, Dale & Melissa Shotwell, Jackie & Ricky Lauthroom, Glenn & Susie Shotwell, Gail Thompson, and Dana & John Taylor. In addition, he leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family he loved dearly. Eddie was predeceased by his beautiful mother, Anne Louise (Montgomery), and his father, Frank Henry Shotwell. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Charlie Thompson, whose friendship and family bond he cherished. Eddie will be reunited with many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends who passed before him. While his absence leaves a deep void, his spirit will forever ride on—in the roar of a Harley, his favorite songs, a great burnout, the cheers at the racetrack, and the kindness of a helping hand. His legacy is one of love, adventure, and a life fully and fearlessly lived. Eddie's memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Ride on, Fast Eddie and enjoy that dance with your beautiful mother. We’ll see you down the road! The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Welcome on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 10 AM until time of funeral services at 11:30 AM.
