Sally Ann Spalding, 69, of Myrtle Beach, SC and formerly of St. Mary’s County, MD passed away on May 16, 2020 at her sister’s home. Born on June 12, 1950, in Washington, DC she was the daughter of the late Carl Mauney and Gladys (McKenzie) Mauney. Sally married her forever love, Stephen Michael Spalding, Sr., in 1971. Their love grew and they welcomed three (3) kind and caring children. Sally knew she would be reunited with Stephen one day and her children are finding comfort knowing their parents are together again. Sally was an active member of her church and her believe in God brought her peace. A woman with a fun-loving spirit, Sally enjoyed keeping herself physically fit at Fitness Edge Gym or walking her beloved chihuahua, Ricky” at the dog park. Always ready for an adventure, Sally loved to head to the beach, especially Myrtle Beach. The sun warming her skin as the ocean breeze blew through her hair made Sally smile. She was a gambler at heart and loved a day at the casino, Atlantic City was a little piece of heaven with the casino and beach. Although, she loved the sparkling lights of Las Vegas. A mother, grandmother, sister, friend and amazing woman has gone on to enjoy her heavenly home. Her family will miss her immensely. As you look into the eyes of her family, you will see the spirit of a strong woman who has passed on a legacy of kindness, courage and beauty. May you hold your family tight and know that Sally would have encouraged you to be happy. Sally is survived by her children, Kevin X. Spalding of Myrtle Beach, SC and Catherine “Cate” DeLauter (Lou) of Myrtle Beach, SC; four (4) grandchildren, Courtney Spalding, Evan DeLautner, Bella Underwood and Stevie Ann Spalding. She is also survived by her siblings, Larry McKenzie of Beltsville, MD, Connie Gambrell-Allen of Myrtle Beach, SC and Sandra “Sunnie” Busch of Lewiston, ME. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Michael Spalding, Sr.; parents Carl and Gladys Mauney; and son, Stephen Michael Spalding, Jr. The family will receive friends for Sally’s Visitation on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 am with a Funeral Service being held at 11:30 a.m. and officiated by Deacon Bill Kyte from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD. A private interment will follow immediately at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.
