“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” —Revelations 21:4 Sharon Louise Mitcheltree, age 75, of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Born on April 4, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland, Sharon was the beloved daughter of the late Isabell Lavenia Fleming and Earnest Floyd Fleming. She graduated from Northern High School in 1969 and embarked on a distinguished 34-year career at PEPCO, where she worked in the Finance Department until her retirement in 2004. Sharon was a woman of quiet strength, known for her kind heart, her love of animals, and her many creative passions, including cross-stitching and gardening. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. On August 16, 1980, she married her devoted husband, LaVern Mitcheltree. Together they shared over four decades of love, laughter, and memories. Sharon is survived by her husband, LaVern Mitcheltree; her son, Brian Fleming; and her stepchildren, Tamara Akers, Kathryn Hooks, and Timothy Mitcheltree. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Janice Cockerille. She was a proud grandmother to Bryce Fleming, Thomas Mitcheltree, Summer Hooks, Brandon Robey, and Tyler Robey. Her life was further enriched by her many nieces and nephews— Robert Cockerille III, Scott Cockerille, Todd Cockerille, Jason Cockerille, and Michelle Cockerille; and her great-nieces and great-nephews: Robert, Dylan, Chase, Amanda, Matthew, Melissa, Shane, Sydney, Sierra, Savanah, Darrell, Darren, Fallon, Zachary, Earnest III, and Danielle. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Earnest Fleming Jr. and Donald Fleming; her brother-in-law, Robert Cockerille Sr.; and a dear family member, Lisa Core. Sharon’s life was one of love, compassion, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Services to honor and celebrate Sharon’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025: • Viewing: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Huntt’s Funeral Home • Funeral Service: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at Huntt’s Funeral Home • Burial: Immediately following at Trinity Garden Cemetery In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sharon’s memory to a local animal shelter—honoring her lifelong love for animals also donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Sharon's Memory. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
