Eleanor Grinder Dudley

June 2, 1928 - January 12, 2022

Obituary Eleanor Grinder Dudley passed away at her home on January 12, 2022 at the age of 93. She was a long-time resident of Indian Head, MD. Many may remember her when she drove the school bus for Charles County Board of Education, she transported children to the planetarium in Indian Head and Bryans Road. She was often known as the singing bus driver. Her children and grandchildren remember fondly dancing with her in the kitchen each morning as they got ready to go to school. Many of her grandson’s team mates will remember her many gallons of “Tangarade” she made for each game. Eleanor was a longtime member of the Potomac Heights Leisure Club, until her health prevented her from attending. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Hedges (Roger) and Mary Dudley (Pat), grandsons, Cory Dudley (Tammy), Christopher Dudley (Suzanne) and Joshua Hedges (Samantha), great-grandchildren, Taylor Murphy, Jacob Dudley, Gracie Dudley, Leigha Greer, Kolten Dudley, Chase and Tessa Hedges and her sister Theresa Mudd and many nieces and nephews especially Debbie Jameson Adams who she helped raise. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Charles Henderson Dudley, son, Charles Wayne Dudley, and great-grandson Peyton Greer as well as her brothers, Francis (Beanie) Leo (Louise), Buster (Christine), John (Kitty), Bobby (Eileen) Grinder and her sister Jane Coleman. With so many people sick with COVID and other illnesses, the family understands that many will not be able to attend any of the services. The family does not want anyone to feel they need to attend. Your health and well-being is important to us! The family feels that a wonderful way to honor Eleanor, would be to do an act of kindness in her name. It can be as simple as holding the door for someone, letting someone go in front of you in a line or even saying “have a great day” to a stranger. Dedicating an act of kindness whenever you think of her is a beautiful way to celebrate a life and make our world a better place. Pall Bearers: Gracie Dudley, Leigha Greer, Jake Dudley, Kolten Dudley, Chris Dudley, Wayne Dudley, Jon Dyson, Timmy Boyd and Donnie Grimes. Honorary Pall Bearers: Cory Dudley, Josh Hedges, Roger Hedges, Dennis Scheessele, Nathan Adams, Jennifer Bahr and Mike Neff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 4 PM - 7 PM with 6:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Indian Head, MD. Internment Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. During the viewing and the funeral we will be following COVID protocol - there will be no reception due to COVID.
