Geraldine Foreman Law
March 27, 1939 - February 8, 2020
On February 8, 2020, Geraldine Foreman Law went home to be with the Lord at the age of 80. Geraldine accepted Jesus as her Savior early in life. She was quick to share her faith with others, and loved listening to and singing hymns and songs of praise. Prayer was a regular part of her day, and she was sure to let others know how God was working in her life! She spoke very highly of Pastor Bynum and her church family here at Cornerstone. Geraldine grew up in Farmville, NC, along with her 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She had strong bonds with each of her siblings, and was exceptionally proud of their accomplishments. She would often tell stories of her brothers in the military, her sisters in the educational field, and her parents, who were “Mother” and Deacon of the church of her childhood for many years. Following high school, Geraldine attended NC College at Durham, where she earned her degree in Business Administration. During her college years, she met the love of her life, Albert L. Law, Sr, who was a teacher at HB Sugg High School in Farmville, NC. They married upon her graduation. The couple moved to the Washington D.C. area, where they remained throughout their 50 years of marriage. Geraldine was a school teacher for 32 years in the D.C. public school system and was recognized as an “Outstanding Business Teacher”. Following her retirement, she became a substitute teacher in neighboring counties for 10 years. In 1986, Geraldine and Albert founded Camp Springs Driving School in Clinton, MD. With Geraldine’s business background and strong social skills, she helped make it successful for many years. Geraldine was a lifelong Redskins Football fan, and rooted enthusiastically for them, even in the (many) years they weren’t doing well. Although she also loved the Washington Wizards basketball team, her sports heart belonged to the Bulls’ Michael “Air” Jordan, also from the “Great State of North Carolina!” She loved to maintain her garden and decorate for the holidays. She readily admitted that she was not much of a cook, as that task went to her sisters when they were growing up, but her strength was in cleaning, in which she was meticulous! Geraldine loved people. Her love of family and friends was quickly obvious when talking to her. She often spoke of her pride in her son Al, his wife Karen, granddaughters Meagan and Adrielle, and other family members and friends. She was quick to start conversations and make new friends in the community as well. It was never long before bank tellers, waiters, store clerks, or managers knew her by name! She had a strong mind, a strong will, and a fierce loyalty to those she loved, and she loved many! Geraldine leaves a legacy of faith in God, a love of others, unwavering loyalty, and standing up for what is right. She is now enjoying her eternal life in heaven with Jesus, Creator and Lord! 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 The family welcomes flowers and donations to be made to Cornerstone Baptist Community Church in memory of Geraldine.
