Joyce Carlene Berkebile

Joyce Carlene Berkebile, 81, of Annapolis, MD, passed away January 29, 2022. She was born on June 6,1940, in Akron, Ohio, the 4th of 6 children to the late Harold Aiken and Velma Doris Conklin. She is preceded in death by her brothers Harold “Sonny” Conklin, Robert “Bob” Conklin, and sisters Elinor Davis and Jean Potase. Joyce is survived by her youngest brother, Donald Conklin of Stow, Ohio. After growing up in Akron, Joyce met and married Frederick Louis Berkebile, with whom she shared over 35 wonderful years and countless adventures until his death in 1995. Joyce is survived by their three children Keith Berkebile, Crystal Sullivan (Joe, dec.), and David Berkebile (Jeni). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, who she loved beyond measure; Ryan Sullivan (Alexandria), Sean Sullivan (Brenna) and Paige Berkebile (Justin Austenfeld). After relocating to the Washington, DC area in the mid 1960’s, Joyce worked as a business manager for several DC Metro radio stations. During her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, travelling, golf and square dancing. She enjoyed spending time and dancing with her longtime companion and love, Robert Lorenzo, who survives her. She was always busy enjoying life, but was never too busy to lend a hand when a friend or family member needed her help. She was a gem and will be sorely missed. A private family memorial is planned for the spring.
