William Heineken Pickeral, “Billy” also known as “Red Hopper” of Cumberland, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at his residence. He was 74 years old. Born on March, 9, 1948 in La Plata, Maryland, he was the son of the late Lillian Mae Shoemaker Pickeral and the late George Herbert Pickeral Sr. Billy was a carpenter for more than 40 years. He enjoyed gardening, pitching horseshoes, boating, fishing, watching sports, reading, being at the beach and in the fall visiting the mountains. He also enjoyed telling jokes and being with his friends and family. In addition to his parents, his sisters preceded him in death: Naomi Jenkins, Lillian Hayes, Susan Buchanan and Beulah Stalcup. He is survived by his wife Tracy Pickeral and his children Kimberly Dennin (Billy), Robin DeHetre (Mark), Mitchell McKinney (Girlfriend Dee), Brandon McKinney (Whitney) and Kelsey Pickeral (Fiancée Chris); his siblings, George H. Pickeral, Jr, Mildred Willett, Alice Willett, Florence Robey and Evelyn Reese Otto. Six (6) grandchildren, Ashley Boswell, Alexia and Kayla DeHetre, Kylea, Ayden and Alayna McKinney, and one (1) great grandchild Kally Eusantos. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm with Services starting at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. A prayer of farewell will be offered on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Raymond Funeral Service at 10am with the procession to the cemetery to follow. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601. Pallbearers are Mitchell McKinney, Brandon McKinney, George Pickeral Jr., George “Shorty” Pickeral III, Clay Douglas Lichliter, Edward Lichliter, and Daniel Tarby. Honorary Pallbearer is Ayden McKinney.
