ADOLF LLEWELLYN HINTZE's Obituary
Adolf Llewellyn Hintze, 91, of Dentsville, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, surrounded by care and compassion at Restore Health Rehabilitation Center. Adolf was born on October 12, 1934, in Waldorf, Maryland. He was the son of the late Erich Joseph Hintze and Beatrice Parmele McCauley Hintze. Adolf lived in Charles County his entire life and graduated from La Plata High School in 1954. Adolf and Ann spent 52 years together; they shared a lifetime of memories, travels, business ownership, and a life rooted in hard work, resilience, and love. Adolf was a hardworking man who took great pride in everything he did, a trait that began in his early years and carried into high school, where he excelled in athletics, participating in baseball, golf, basketball, soccer, and tumbling. Ultimately, baseball became his pride and joy. After high school, he went on to play semi-professional baseball for various teams, including the Washington Senators, Missoula Timberjacks, Erie Senators, Orlando CBs, Monroe Sports, Fox City Foxes, Pomfret, and the Waldorf Baseball Team. Though his baseball career was taking off, his father called him home to help build and operate the Heidelberg Motel, where he began the next chapter of his life. Throughout his life, Adolf owned and operated numerous business enterprises, including trailer-hauling, laundromats, a car wash, an Irish pub, and various rental properties, reflecting his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. Adolf was a dedicated member of the Scottish Rite and the St. Columba Masonic Temple. In his free time, he enjoyed watching golf, cheering on the Orioles and the Redskins, and following NASCAR. He especially loved seafood, his sister-in-law Theresa’s cooking, and meals at Bob Evans. Among the many things he loved, Adolf had a special place in his heart for his cat, Boo, whose companionship brought him quiet comfort and joy. The family would like to thank the staff at Restore Health Rehabilitation Center for the love, compassion, and dedicated care they showed Adolf over the past two years. He is survived by his sisters-in-law and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Erich Joseph Hintze; his mother, Beatrice Parmele McCauley Hintze; his brother, Eric Hintze; and his wife, Patricia Ann Williams Hintze. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 24th, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, with a prayer and funeral service held at 7:00 PM, at Raymond Funeral Service in La Plata, Maryland. The following day, Wednesday, March 25th, 2026, a final goodbye service will be held at Raymond Funeral Service at 9:00 AM, followed by a burial service at 11:00 AM at Trinity Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be James Leavy, Josh Leavy, Jarrett Leavy, Austin Lord, and Skippy Boland. Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Melvin, Camryn Leavy, and Skye Leavy. In honor of Adolf’s love for baseball, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Orioles Charitable Fund or to Inova Fairfax Hospital for the care they provided Adolf throughout different times in his life.
