Alan Dale Matthews' Obituary
Alan “Dale” Matthews, age 66 of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away on November 12, 2021. He was born on April 7, 1955 in New Eagle, Pennsylvania to Howard Eugene Matthews and Helen Louise Matthews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, James Corbin Milliner and Earle Cornellius Boswell.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Curtin Matthews; his son, Brent (and wife Brittany Matthews); his brother, Howard Lynn Matthews; and his sisters, Renee Lorraine Smith (and husband, Larry Gilbert Smith), Nancy Jean Milliner, and Wilma Louise Boswell. He is also survived by three granddaughters and numerous nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great nieces.
Dale was a very loving and devoted husband, brother, uncle, friend, and all-around wonderful man.
The love he had for his wife, Pat, was beyond comparison. Dale met his match in Pat. He found his soul mate! He would always brag about how lucky he was to have her. She didn’t let him get away with anything, always challenging him, but above all else, she showed him (and he showed her) the kind of love everyone dreams of having.
He loved life and had a crazy sense of humor. He was always trying to make someone laugh by telling them the latest joke he had seen on Facebook or heard on the radio. He just couldn’t wait to tell you!
He loved his Chevrolets no matter if it was the latest model straight off the showroom floor or the old rust buckets in the forgotten junk yards (from his ’66 Chevelle to his 2015 truck and, of course, his in-pieces 50’s model project truck). Dale really loved his love with his extensive career in the Parts Department at Winegardner Chevrolet.
Dale had a lot of curve balls thrown his way and yet he continued to play ball. Yes, the things that happened may have taken him by surprise and caused him heartbreak at times but he ALWAYS picked himself up and made the best of every situation. He always turned something negative into something positive.
Visitation on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 12PM until time of Funeral Service at 1PM at the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 7365 Indian Head Highway, Bryans Road, Maryland 20616. Interment will be at a later date.
