Amanda Blanche Walker's Obituary
Amanda lived in Washington, DC for 17 years and attended Woodrow Wilson High School. As a young wife and mother, she enjoyed raising her children and her church activities, especially singing in the choir and special singing groups. At a young age, she worked at her mother’s and father’s grocery store, Lanes Grocery, in Clinton, Maryland. She became a Store Manager for Lerner and Company in Marlow Heights, Maryland. Afterwards she was a Property Manager with Regency Park Apartments, and then worked with Clinton Pharmacy as their Hallmark Rep before retiring in 1996. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling for a while with her Life Partner, Francis Polzin. Her hobbies include bird watching, gardening, gathering with family, and shell collecting at the ocean. She loved to laugh – especially at her own jokes.
She was the daughter of Jennings Bryan Lane and Maggie May Lane. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Harry Leo Walker, Sr.; her son, Harry “Mickey” Leo Walker, Jr.; her sister, Alice Leona Kunk; her son-in-law, Norman Granville Hough, III; her nephew, Charles “Chuck” Crist; and dearly loved brother-in-law, Charles “Charlie” Sherman Crist.
She is survived by her inseparable companion for life, Francis “Larry” Polzin; dearly loved sister, Cora E. Crist; her children, Susan (Tom) DeHetre, Jennifer Hough (Bernie LoCasio), Dessie (Dave) Herbert, Timothy (Carol) Walker; and daughter-in-law, Ann Walker. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and her extended family, Tommy (Sandy) Polzin and Jimmy (Linda) Polzin and their children.
Visitation on Monday, November 30, 2020 from 11AM until time of Funeral Service at 12PM at Hughesville Baptist Church, 8505 Leonardtown Road, Hughesville, Maryland 20637. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
