Arthur Ellsworth Creighton's Obituary
Arthur Ellsworth Creighton, of LaPlata, Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, with family by his side. He was 96 years of age.
Born August 24, 1928, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late James A. Creighton and Cora May Saunders Creighton. He was a proud member of the Armed Forces and honorably served in the Army during the Korean war. He devoted many years working for Giant Food Company. Art was an avid musician, ballroom dancer and story teller. You could often find him gathered around the table exchanging stories, listening to music and reminiscing memories with those that he loved. He will always be remembered as a kind and gracious man who treated everyone he met like family.
At the age of 55, Art married the love of his life and forever dance partner, Ruth Goldsmith Creighton. He was most proud of his marriage. Art and Ruth were married for 29 years until Ruth’s passing in 2013. Although he had no biological children, he was very devoted to his family and a loving and supportive stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Art is preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth, brothers Donald Creighton and Harry Creighton, sister Eleanor Markward, step-daughter Judy Goldsmith Fields, and grandsons Nick Sinsel and Chris Schick.
He is survived by his stepchildren Paul Goldsmith (wife Juls), Dottie Moats, Joe Goldsmith (wife Darlene), Teresa Willingham (husband Steve), and Becky Fox (husband Carlin); grandchildren Jeff Bowie (wife Vicky) Jennifer Bowling (husband BJ), Andrew Willingham, Holly Garrison (husband David), Cheyenne Goldsmith (Cole), Natalie, Mackenzie, Alaina, and Ella Fox; great-grandchildren Tru Glotfelty, Mia Bowie, Jillian and Caroline Bowling, Jordyn and Gage Willingham, Clayton and Brooke Garrison; and extended family members Brian Moats and family, Shannon Smith and family, Mason Hall, Caitlin Fox and Emily Chappelle and family.
