Arthur Eugene Willett (1926-2024)
Arthur Eugene Willett, 98, of Indian Head, MD, went home to be with Jesus and his beloved wife, Millie, on Monday, June 3, 2024. He led a happy and rewarding life as a faithful husband,
father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Arthur was born in New York City on February 4, 1926, to Frank and Marie Willett of Nanjemoy, MD. He married his precious wife of 72 years, Mildred Shives Willett, on September 1, 1951.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. His post-military career began working at Standard Oil and eventually moved to the Federal Government, where he retired
from the United States Agency for International Development, and later retired from the United States Army Corp of Engineers.
Arthur was preceded in death two weeks earlier by his wife, Mildred Shives Willett. Arthur leaves behind his son, Gordon Willett (Barbara) of Ocala, FL; daughter, Nancy Hallock (Charles)
of Accokeek, MD; granddaughter, Virginia King (Tim); grandson, Michael Willett (Tiffany); granddaughter, Melanie Hardin (James Jr.); and great-grandchildren Kelly King, Megan King,
Ashton Wegand, AJ Wegand, Aaron Hardin, and Hailey Hardin.
Arthur loved baseball. He was a diehard New York Yankees fan and even enjoyed playing and coaching recreational baseball and softball over the years. In his retirement, Arthur planted a
large garden and harvested many years of delicious fruits and vegetables, plenty of which he shared with family and friends. Additionally, Arthur enjoyed fishing on his boat and meeting
friends to bowl a few frames.
A graveside service will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Marbury Baptist
Church, PO Box 528, Marbury, MD 20658.
