Barbara Ann Canter's Obituary
Barbara Ann Canter, 79, of Washington DC passed away to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Barbara was a devout Christian, who was one of the 12 original founding members of Calvary Gospel Church in Waldorf, MD. She devoted many hours in helping build this ministry to the thriving church it is today.
Barbara was a hardworking, creative, organized & very giving person, who loved her church, family members and friends dearly. She enjoyed traveling, doing crafts, helping others, entertaining, eating MD blue crabs, scrapbooking, as well many other interests. She retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers in Washington, DC after 25 years.
She is survived to cherish her memory by her loving husband of 45 years, Dr. Hugh L. Canter; daughters, Kimberly Ann Willard of Cameron, NC & Tammy Lynn Barber of Henrico, VA; sisters, Nina Davis of White Plains, MD & Trudy Castro of Front Royal, VA; and brother, Gerald Peterson of Fayetteville, NC. She also has six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews, whom she loved dearly.
A graveside service will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Mark Roberson on Tuesday, September 28, at 11 AM at Trinity Memorial Gardens; 3332 Mattawoman-Beantown Road; Waldorf, MD 20602.
In lieu of flowers, donations of her memory may be made to Open Gate Ministries; 4028 Washington Road; Waldorf, MD 20602.
