Barbara Ann Horne Hester was born May 27, 1946 to Arneal and Maime Joyce Love Pearson Horne in Jacksonville, North Carolina. She was educated in the Onslow County school system and graduated from Georgetown High School in 1964. Throughout her youth, Barbara was also a member of Marshal Chapel Missionary Baptist Church until she graduated high school. It was here that she grew to be a strong woman of faith and developed a deep, passionate, and faithful love for God and His word.
On November 20, 1964 Barbara married KD Hester, Sr. In Washington D.C. Three children were born out of this union.
