Bennie Yema Harryson Sr.'s Obituary
Bennie Yema Harryson, 75, of Waldorf, Maryland, entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the Genesis Waldorf Center.
Born on July 24, 1949, in Monrovia, Liberia, Bennie was the son of the late Harry Toe and Jaylee Toe. As a young man, Bennie immigrated to the United States, where he pursued his dreams and built a life for his family. He earned his Associate’s Degree and worked in various professions throughout his life. Bennie owned his own taxi in New York City, served as a concierge for a high-rise condominium, and was an avid real estate investor, owning multiple properties in Monrovia, Liberia, the Bronx, Harlem, New York. He was passionate about giving back to his homeland and built a hospital and a school in Liberia, contributing to the well-being and education of many. Bennie also sponsored numerous Liberians, helping them come to America and settle into their new lives. His generosity and commitment to his community will never be forgotten. Additionally, Bennie was a lifelong New York Yankees fan.
Bennie is survived by his children, Moses Harryson (Clara Harryson), Fritz Harryson, Bennie Harryson Jr., Derek Harryson Sr. (Mary Harryson), Corinth Harryson, Rasmus Harryson, and Benjamin Harryson; his grandchildren, Benjamin Ospina, Dante Cady Harryson, Beau Harryson, Payton Harryson, Future Harryson, Evon Harryson,Martin Romeo Collins, Sydney Sanare, Ethan Sanare, Jashiem Harryson, Lianna Harryson, and Derek Harryson Jr.; as well as his only Great Grandchild, Nyla Cady (Daughter of Grandson, Danty Cady Harryson, Son of Bennie Yema Harryson Jr.) and his siblings, George Ngabe, Sarah Harryson, Victoria Sayfoh, Mary Harryson, Gloria Harryson, Deborah Harryson, Comfort Harryson, Beatrice Harryson & Harry Toe Jr. Harryson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Church of St. Charles, 136 Stoddert Avenue, Waldorf, Maryland 20602 where funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow the services at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Rd, Waldorf, MD 20601.
