CHARLES ROBERT ADAMS's Obituary
Charles “Bobby” Robert Adams, 71, of Shady Side, MD, passed away at his residence on March 13, 2026. Bobby was born on May 13, 1954, in Waldorf, MD, to Rosie V. (Pickeral) and George C. Adams, Sr. Bobby worked most of her career as a pipe insulator. He also spent some time as a surveyor and an auto body technician. Bobby loved going to bluegrass festivals. He would sing on stage with Johnny Donaldson and Mac Wiseman. He would take his guitar to family gatherings to perform and entertain. He enjoyed going camping, throwing his lines in the water and cooking a hefty breakfast for everyone. In his younger days, he owned and drove vintage cars. His 57 Chevy was one of his favorites. One of his proudest moments was when he risked his own life to pull a man out of a burning tractor-trailer, saying, “I had an adrenaline rush and knew I needed to save that man’s life.” In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his previous wife, Edna Louise Adams, brothers, George Adams, Jr. and his wife, Hilda, William Horace Adams, and Samuel Adams. Bobby is survived by his long-time love and wife of 5 years, Sherry Lee (Holt) Adams. “We went out one time in 1974 and hadn’t seen each other in years. She called me up one day in 2020, and we haven’t been apart since, was the story he would tell of their love. He is also survived by his daughter, Ellie Chester (Jack), step-daughters; Vickie Roundabush, and Priscilla Larsen, grandchildren; Jessica Toppi (Ethan Davis), Catherine Larson, Wyatt Chester, Brian Moretz (Nick), Katelin Drake (Ryan Dale), and Jonathon Chester (Susan Berio), great-grandchildren; Railey Dale, Kohen Dale, Kenna Fox, Bentley Berio, Brooklyn Berio, and Hailee Berio, sisters; Shirley Pickeral (Kenneth), Betty Welch, and Susie Henson (Jerrell), and sister in-law, Elizabeth Adams. Visitation will be on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Service will be officiated by Jerrell Henson. Pallbearers will be: Doug Adams, Ethan Davis, Don Holt, Logan McClurkin, Nathan Osborn, and Ken Pickeral. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Bobby’s name are asked to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852. The family has asked that everyone please dress casually and come as you are.
