Clarence Lansdale Boswell, Sr.'s Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, grandfather, and great grandfather, Clarence Lansdale Boswell, Sr. He was born on August 15, 1930 to Samuel J. Boswell and Maime V. Boswell (Rawlings). He passed on August 22, 2018 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. He was 88 years old.
Clarence served in the U.S. Army (Korean War). After his honorable discharge, he farmed the family land and was a truck driver for the Maryland Tobacco Grower’s Association in Waldorf, Maryland for many years.
Together, Clarence and Hazel are founders of C. L. Boswell Septic Tank Service which continues to serve Southern Maryland for more than 50 years. He had a passion for helping others, always willing to jump in and help family, friends, and strangers. He would give the shirt off his back. His way of doing business back in the day was a good ole handshake would seal a deal.
Clarence was a hard worker and took pride in his business, home, raising his children, gardening, and working on farm tractors. He was an accomplished mechanic, carpenter, great cook, and jack of all trades.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years and best friend, Hazel L. Boswell, whom he married on July 18, 1953.
Clarence is survived by his children, Clarence L. Boswell, Jr. (Emma), Larry D. Boswell, and Carolyn L. Hurst (Gary); his sister, Hester Mangum; his grandchildren, Michael Boswell, Ashley Boswell, and Shelby Hurst; and his great-grandchildren, Lacey Boswell, Kally Eusantos, and Michael Boswell, Jr.
Friends received on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with Prayer Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 and where Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11AM. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601. Pallbearers: Michael Boswell, Joe Bowles, Johnny Boswell, Jimmy Smith, Freddie Bowles III, and Chris Bell.
