Daniel Nathan Harrison II's Obituary
DANIEL NATHAN HARRISON, II age 50 of Waldorf, Maryland
Daniel Nathan Harrison 2nd, was born to Dr Daniel N. Harrison, Sr and the late Rev Dr Mae Etta Harrison on January 23, 1973, in Washington, D. C.
At age 2 Danny was diagnosed with leukemia, causing his mother to frantically search for a cure. Aware of her despair, one of her classmates at Howard University, Delores McKinney, led her to Christ which resulted in Dan also receiving Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at her husband's bible study, which later evolved into the Washington Christian Center, with her husband, Dr Lorenzo McKinney, as pastor.
Freshly imbued with faith and hope, the couple visited Katherine
Kuhlman's Healing Crusade Ministry in Pittsburgh, Pa, praying for Danny's healing. Just before the service began, the Holy Spirit touched Mae, then Danny, which eventually led to his miraculous healing.
At the age of 5, Danny began his schooling at Oxon Hill Kindergarten in
Oxon Hill, Md, Potomac Landing Elementary School in Fort Washington,
Md, and continued at Eugene Burroughs Middle School in Accokeek, Md. Danny received his high school diploma at Leonardtown High School in Lexington Park, Md.
After working in a variety of jobs, and receiving a security clearance, he found work as a mail clerk in the US House of Representatives. Danny was meticulous and displayed a strong work ethic, often being the first to arrive in his office in the morning. His tenacity resulted in his receiving numerous awards and commendations including Employee of the month.
However, in May of 2019, he had to retire from his position after 15 years because he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a most virulent brain tumor. He was not expected to live no more than 11 months after the brain operation but through many prayers, the Lord allowed him to live almost four years which served as comfort to his father, and younger brother, John, because Rev Mae had passed away shortly after his operation.
In September 2022 the cancer returned and he underwent a second brain operation, which resulted in left side paralysis. After receiving care in two rehab facilities, he was finally able to come home to his father on December 1, 2022. At home, with the wonderful help of Hospice of Charles County, he received loving care. He also received comfort from his brother, John, uncle James and aunt Pat Harrison, aunt Deloris Hunter, cousin Angela and George Waterman, Barbara Harris, Karen Robinson, Rev Eva Clark, and Rosetta Daniels.
Danny accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a teenager. Although his faith was tested and challenged, it only grew stronger throughout his illness. Danny's personality was presented as an introvert, but after he got to know and trust you, he displayed a playful sense of observational humor that would have you in stitches. He had a "big heart" and was quick to share helpful information from the Internet on topics in nutrition, wellness and politics.
At the age of 50, Danny went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother, Reverend Doctor Mae E Brewington Harrison.
Daniel Harrison 2nd leaves to cherish his memory, his father, Dr Daniel N.
