DANIEL HOWARD MURPHY's Obituary
Daniel Howard Murphy, of Fredericksburg, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on September 10, 1939, in Dentsville, Maryland, to the late William and Lillian Murphy.
One of fifteen children, Daniel grew up in a large family and shared a particularly special bond with his twin brother, David. Family was always at the center of Daniel’s life, shaping the quiet strength, loyalty, and warmth for which he was known.
Daniel spent his working years as an oiler in the concrete industry, where he was respected for his strong work ethic. On January 30, 1965, he married the love of his life, Joanne Warner. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion and raised three children.
Daniel had a deep love for country music and enjoyed playing the guitar. Nothing, however, brought him more joy than time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—they truly made him light up and were the pride of his life.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and ten of his siblings—six brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Joanne Murphy; his children, Diane Marlett (Jim) of Hughesville, Maryland, Donna Graves (Greg) of Colonial Beach, Virginia, and Delores Lacey (Brian) of Chaptico, Maryland; eight cherished grandchildren - Jessica Johnson, Jimmy Marlett (Jessica), Kayla Tyson (Justin), Lindsey Graves, Carley Hennessy (Ryan), Nicholas Graves (Ally), Ashley Lacey-Sanders (Chris), and Cassidy Lacey (Dalton); and eight beloved great-grandchildren - Kylie, Logan, Isabella, Camden, Addison, Sophia, Marah, and Riley. He is also survived by four siblings: David Murphy, Edward Murphy (Sue), Joyce Fowler (Walter), and Linda Fowler.
Daniel will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his love of music, and his unwavering dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
