Deanna Louise Gunther's Obituary
Deanna “Dee” Lawrence Gunther, 76, of Moneta, VA, (formerly of Owings, MD), passed away, unexpectedly, at Carilion Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 17, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
Born December 18, 1946, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Lane and Lillian Lawrence.
Dee grew up in Accokeek, Maryland, and attended Gwynn Park High School, in Brandywine, MD. Afterwards, she worked in retail management (Dart Drug, Drug Emporium, and Save-A-Lot) for more than 50 years.
Dee enjoyed listening to country music and attended many live performances. She also enjoyed watching old western movies. During her retirement years, Dee helped her husband plant a large vegetable garden each year. She always enjoyed the Christmas holidays putting up her extensive decorations throughout her home and visiting with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Gladys Cereghin, and Debbie Arcand.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, John Gunther, Jr.; sister, Layne Kuster of Accokeek, MD; brother, Jeff (Rhonda) Lawrence of Mechanicsville, MD; daughter, Dana (Dave) Hein of Waldorf, MD; sons; Reverend Steve (Nohemy) Sidler of the Dominican Republic, and Vincent Sidler of La Plata, MD; grandchildren; Seth Roberson of Waldorf, MD, Jessie (Calvin)Saulog of Chatsworth, CA, Nicki Artes of Hollywood, MD, Michael (Brynne) Sidler of Jessup, MD, Angie and Sarah Sidler of Bowie, MD; great-grandchildren; Grace and Titus Saulog, and Chloe and Jayden Godfrey.
Friends will be received on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646 where additional visitation will be on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 10:30 AM until time of Service at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
