Delores Viola Pocknett's Obituary
Jackie passed peacefully on May 10, 2024; God called upon his angels to escort Delores Viola Pocknett AKA Jackie from this earthly life to eternal rest.
Delores (Jackie) was born on August 2, 1936. She attended school in Portsmouth, VA. After graduating, Jackie moved to New York and a career in babysitting where she found a passion in caring for people. Later she returned to Virginia.
In 1960, her passion in her career carried her to DC, where she attended Chamberlain Vocational School and studied Cosmetology and Nursing. During both studies, her passion stayed in the Nursing field.
Working at several hospitals (Children's, DC General, Greater S.E., Holy Cross Hospital and Southern Maryland hospital.), Jackie started her Nursing career as an CNA in 1965. After completing her Associate Degree at PG, she traveled aboard several states to various Nursing Schools where she obtained her RN License. After 54 years for caring for the sick, Jackie retired in 2014 from Southern Maryland Hospital.
In addition to being a loyal hard worker, Jackie was a beacon of light to all who knew her. She loved spending quality time with her family and friends. She was also vivid sports lover- especially her Washington Redskins, The Wizards and Mystics. She loved to travel and dance.
Delores (Jackie) leaves to cherish four children Jacqueline Delores Akers (Kevin Akers), Angelo Coleman (Donna Coleman), Velma Marie Lewis and Jon Attaquin Pocknett II (Ursula Pocknett).
Grandchildren Michele, Venus, Naomi, Rahsaan, Kahil, Portia, Frank, and Jon Pocknett III. She had a host of Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.
Jackie will truly be missed. We will always carry your memories in our hearts.
God is saying "Job well done, my faithful servant. You have gone to glory where there will be unspeakable joy."
