Denise Theresa Butler's Obituary
Denise Theresa Butler born September 4, 1957 to the late Marion A. and James A. Butler. Denise spent her early childhood years in Accokeek, Md. where the family later moved to Fort Washington, Md. (Chapel Hill).
Denise was a lifelong resident of Prince Georges County Maryland. She received her formal education in the Prince Georges County Public School system, where she graduated from Friendly High School.
For a short period of time, during her young adult years Denise resided in Washington D.C. Denise started her career after graduation as an Administrative Professional at Westinghouse Electric Corporation where she worked 20 years. After her tenor at Westinghouse she became a caregiver and continued to care for families until her transition. Denise was a hard worker and very dependable.
Denise was a loving and devoted mother to her only child Nicole. Denise loved life to the fullest through simple pleasures of life, such as watching her favorite TV shows “Wheel of Fortune”, “Let’s Make A Deal”, “Family Feud” “Price is Right” Daytime Soap Operas: “Young and the Restless & Bold and The Beautiful”. Denise enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends and she loved shopping with her granddaughter Paris. She loved “Oldies But Goodies” 60’s and 70’s music and enjoyed dancing and entertaining. Denise also known as “Neice” was the life of the party. She loved playing the lottery and calling family and friends to discuss the latest number trend and winning number(s). Her favorite saying was “I Just Missed That Number”.
Denise Theresa Butler age 67, peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on Friday February 7, 2025 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital. During her illness she was surrounded and supported by her loving family caregivers. She is survived by her Daughter, Nicole Butler; Granddaughter, Paris Hayes; Sisters, Ponjola Short, Cynthia Butler, Desiree Lewis (Patrick); Brother, Marcellus Butler; Aunt, Alice Gray (Joseph); Nieces, Krystle Lewis Johnson (Jerron), Dominique Cole, Brittany and Jenelle Lewis; Nephews, Antoine Short (Shanetta), Desmond, Michael and Brandon Butler; Great Nieces, Amani Price, Keniyah Cole; Great Nephews, Andrew Short, Kendrick and Kross Johnson; and Devoted Friend, Kenneth Washington. She leaves to mourn a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marion and James Butler; Grandparents, Elizabeth and Cecil Brown, Douglass and Angela Butler; Brother, Cornellus Butler; Nephews, Adrian Short and Terrell Lewis.
Viewing, 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2025, until time of Service, 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment, Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
