Denise Yvonne Hughes' Obituary
Denise Yvonne Hughes, 37, of Great Mills MD died January 25, 2024, peacefully at home, with her family by her side.
Born in Cheverly Maryland at Prince George’s County Hospital and raised in Southern Maryland she was the daughter of James Wesley Hughes Sr (Deceased) and Mary Alice Scopin.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Scopin (Cesar), children William Hughes, twins Anthony and Carly Thomas, Dezyrae Hughes, and Daniel Douglas Jr., brothers James Hughes Jr. and Joseph Hughes (Jennifer), niece Kassidy Hughes, and nephews Kamedon Hughes and Trentyn Hughes. She will be missed by all that loved her.
Denise graduated from Thomas Stone High School in 2004 and studied cosmetology at Blades School of Hair Design. She loved Dolphins, watching her favorite football team The Dallas Cowboys, camping, and going to the beach. She enjoyed word search puzzles, latch hook rugs, and attending family events, especially activities with her children.
The family would like to extend their appreciation for the dedication of the St. Mary’s Hospice Team. With their support and the love of her mother and family friend, Kimberly Price, Denise was able to spend her last month at home with her children while receiving 24-hour care.
The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, January 31 from 2 – 4 p.m. with a Baptist Service at 4:00 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Home, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD. A police-escorted processional will begin at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, February 1st starting at Raymonds with interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf MD.
Memorial Contributions in Denise's name may be made to Hospice at St. Mary's.
