Edward Howard Henley Sr.'s Obituary
Edward Howard Henley Sr., 98, of White Plains, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at his home.
Born on November 13, 1923 in Illinois, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland Henley and Marie H. Henley. He married Marie Chiloupe in Washington DC in 1941. Edward served in the U. S. Navy during World War II before being Honorably Discharged. He then joined the U. S. Park Police, rising through the ranks, reaching the rank of Inspector before his retirement. While with the Park Police, Edward earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement with the American University and was a graduate of the FBI Academy. In his spare time, he enjoyed building large model boats and working outdoors. He was a serious reader of the Bible and enjoyed fellowship at the First Baptist Church of Waldorf. Above all his pursuits and achievements, Edward loved getting his family together.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife Marie Henley; siblings Grover Jr. “Bucky”, Hazel, Betty, and Norma; sons-in-law Kenneth A. Gould Jr., Kevin Gladd, and Michael Reed.
Edward is survived by his daughters Mary Ann Gould, Susan Christine Gladd, and Donna Marie Reed; sons Edward Howard Henley Jr. and Christian James Henley; grandchildren Benjamin Luke Gladd (Nikki), Clayton Paul Gladd (Heather), Joel Andrew Gladd (Dana), Brian Anthony DiGuiseppe (DeAnne), Raymond Mark DiGuiseppe, Jason Edward Henley (Ashley), and Jeffrey Edward Henley; great grandchildren Judah Benjamin Gladd, Simon Gregory Gladd, Avery Grace Gladd, Colton Samuel Gladd, Mariella Aspen Gladd, Henry Kevin Gladd, Dominic Anthony DiGuiseppe, Antonette Louise DiGuiseppe, Joseph Colona DiGuiseppe, Jackson Thomas DiGuiseppe, Julian Michael DiGuiseppe, Emma Rose DiGuiseppe, Gus Bear Henley, and Lucy Mae Henley.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 10AM until time of service at 11AM at First Baptist Church, 10045 Bunker Hill Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20603 with Pastor Randy Stacks officiating.
Interment to follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
