Ella Mae Gray's Obituary
Ella Mae Gray, 98, of Temple Hills, Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2016. She was born in Maryland on April 25, 1918. At the age of 17 she married Joseph Warren Gray on April 1, 1935. She was the loving mother of Joseph Belmont Gray, and a wonderful and caring foster mother to more than a dozen boys and girls in their time of need. She held a firm hand and a loving heart. Even as a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother, Ella's tendency for hard work knew no boundaries as she did not shy away from being a partner with her son and her husband when it came to dressing and preparing the game brought back from hunting, be it squirrels, rabbits, or deer. She was right there with them when felling trees, cutting the wood, gardening, yard work. She continued pushing the lawn mower to the age of 91. And following a full day of hard work, she would prepare a full and hearty supper at the end of the day.
Ella is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Warren Gray on August 31, 1988, and her son, Joseph Belmont Gray on June 30, 2016. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Virginia Lee Vann, June L. Settle, George E. Brown, Sheala A. Delozier, Jeanette McKenna, Elizabeth Thompson, Ralph "Rudy" Gue, Joseph Gue, Raymond Gue, Patricia Stonestreet, and Joan Griffith.
