Fred Grimes' Obituary
Fred Grimes, 79, of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025 after a short illness.
He was born on January 23, 1946 in Washington, D.C. to the late Norman Grimes and Marilyn Grimes. He was a proud graduate of Oxon Hill High School class of 1965. Fred was a Fiber Optic and Line Technician for Lucent Technologies for 47 years before retiring. In retirement Fred was a devoted volunteer for Meals on Wheels. In his younger years, he was a proud supporter and volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, as well as being invested in the government and success of Charles County. Fred and his wife were residents of Waldorf for over 46 years. He took pride in his strong work ethic and being a provider for his family.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Kathleen Mary Grimes, and by his brother, Sammy Grimes. Fred is survived by his children, Scott Grimes, and Michele (Jeff) Hogan; grandchildren, Kyle Nease, Alexis Hogan, and Sean Hogan; his loving sister, Debi Shifflett, brother, Eddie Grimes, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 2:30PM until time of service to begin at 4PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. A private interment will be held at a later date.
