George Edward Chambers' Obituary
George Edward Chambers, 85, of La Plata, Maryland, passed away on June 1, 2024 in Solomons, Maryland.
George was born in Friendly, Maryland on June 8, 1938 to Howard and Elbie V. Chambers. He graduated from Oxon Hill High School and went on to serve in the Army National Guard for 7 years. Following his military service, he began his career with the Federal Government as a Civil Engineering Forman for 31 years until his retirement.
George was an avid outdoor enthusiast. He loved boating, fishing for rockfish, and crabbing, as well as hunting deer, riding ATVs, and practicing his archery in the woods. In addition to his outdoor hobbies, he was an avid fan of the Washington Nationals and Washington Redskins and loved his favorite restaurants, Pancakes Plus and PTM.
George is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Ann Chambers; his parents, Howard Chambers and Elbie Chambers (nee Urban); and brothers, Bud Chambers and Lester Chambers.
He is survived by his son, Scott Chambers (Mary); his daughter, Susan Baker (Chuck); grandchildren, Brittany Blair, Logan Chambers, Adam Chambers, Nicole Bays, Faith Chambers; and great grandchildren, Colbie Bays, Waylon Chambers, Owen Bays, Ellie Chambers, and Lucas Blair.
A Visitation for George will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the New Life Wesleyan Church Chapel beginning at 11am until the time of his Memorial Service at 12:30pm. Inurnment to immediately follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of George may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
