George Columbus Sellner's Obituary
George Columbus Sellner died on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at Bayleigh Chase in Easton.
He was born on March 3, 1928, in Clinton, Md., the son of the late George C. Sellner and Lottie Mae Taylor Sellner.
George served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1949. After he returned from the Navy, he married the former Barbara Craven, and they made their home in Clinton, Md., on Sellner Lane on the family farm. He was employed as a telephone foreman with Bell Atlantic and loved working there. In the late 1990s, they built a house in Wittman. They moved to Londonderry in 2012.
George had a love of the outdoors, which included working on the family farm and gardening. He enjoyed building and flying gas-powered model planes.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Sellner; children, JoAnne Hainline of Albemarle, N.C., Joyce Cayli of Centreville, Va., George C. Sellner of Rockville, Md.; grandchildren, Brett, Garrett and Clayton Hainline, Cameron, Bryan, Bella, Maddie and Gabby Sellner; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Charlotte; and siblings, Charles Sellner and Marion Garber. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Ethan Sellner; and siblings, Charlotte Richards, Pauline Rutter; and son-in-law, Warren Hainline.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home P.A., 200 S. Harrison St., Easton, where friends may call one hour prior, from 2 to 3 p.m. Burial will be on Monday, Feb. 4, 11 a.m. at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, Md.
