George McAndrew Winkler's Obituary
George McAndrew Winkler, 81, fondly known as “Mack”, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC.
Born on July 1, 1941 in Pomfret, Maryland, he was the son of the late George Lester Winkler and Mary Edith Winkler. Mack served in the U. S. Army then later with the Maryland National Guard with over 23 years of service. He also worked as a civilian contractor for Department of Defense. Mack was a member of the American Legion and Waldorf Senior Center, where he was one of the Bingo Callers. He enjoyed playing “Santa Claus” and woodworking with entering some of his projects in the County Fair.
In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by his siblings Martha G. George, Charles L., David D., and Michael.
Mack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen T. Winkler; children Mary Elizabeth Hanna, Tammy Ann Smith and her husband Robert, Matthew David Winkler and his wife Katherine; grandchildren Charles R. Pollard, Amanda E. Terry, Levie M. Pollard, Robert Smith, Tiffany A. Smith, Jonathan C. Winkler, Meghan J. Winkler, and Jesse R. Winkler; great grandchildren Ryland, Chase, Emma, Alexander, Apollo AJ), sibling
William H. Winkler.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 4PM until 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 where Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 11AM.
Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road Waldorf, MD 20601.
