Gina Lopes, 61, of Montross, VA went to heaven on Sunday, August 15, 2021. Gina was the first of three children born to Joseph and Caroline Interlandi in Washington, DC. After graduating from Regina High School in Adelphi, Maryland, she married the love of her life, Dorian Lopes, on September 23, 1978. They lived in Silver Spring, MD for a short time before moving to Potomac Heights in Charles County, Maryland where they became active members and were baptized at Potomac Heights Baptist Church. They raised three wonderful children to love the Lord, Jennifer, Jessica and John. Although working outside the home for a short time, she loved and excelled at being a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed attending her childrens' sporting events (softball, field hockey, baseball, and wrestling) and taking the kids to Baltimore Orioles baseball games at Camden Yards. After their children were grown, she loved taking cruises with Dorian all over the Caribbean, New England, Hawaii, and Alaska. Her greatest joy was her involvement in her grandchildrens' lives. She cherished the moments when she could be with her grandchildren, attending hockey games, soccer games and traveling wherever she needed to go to see them. Her immense love and support she poured out on her family showed in the love they gave back to her. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Interlandi, her grandfather and grandmother Virgil and Maude Bowers who were a big part of Gina's young life. She is survived by her husband Dorian, her three children Jennifer (Brian), Jessica (Terrence) and John (Jennifer), mother Caroline Nelson, step-father Harold Nelson, brother Joseph Interlandi Jr, sister Carrie Grieninger, niece Nikki Grieninger, nephew Jesse Grieninger, mother-in-law Yeda Benoit, sister-in-law Donna Loughner (Russ), niece Kayla Cummings (Chris), nephews Kyle Loughner and Oleg Loughner, six grandchildren Tyler Hill (Nina), Nicholas Hill, Camden Goin, Keltie Goin, Ailyn Goin and Aubree Lopes, and one great-grandchild Camila Ava, and many more extended relatives in Texas, Washington and Brazil. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 12 noon. Interment Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Masks must be worn inside funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Gina would love support to go to St. Jude Children's Hospital (Partners in Hope) or the Wounded Warrior Project.
