Mrs. Gwen Marie Lilly's Obituary
Gwen Marie Lilly, 66, of Waldorf, MD died on April 20, 2021 at Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington, VA.
Gwen was born on January 18, 1955 in Washington, DC to the late Mary Ellen (Rose) and Joseph Edward Goforth, Jr.
Gwen was a Cafeteria manager and Secretary for the Charles County Board of Education. She was a faithful member of The Church of St. Charles (formerly, First Baptist Church of St. Charles), where she was involved in the children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a mentor for her family and school children. Gwen had over 25 years of volunteer service with the Bladensburg and Accokeek Volunteer Fire Departments, and often worked Bingo at the Silver Hill Fire Department. She was active in the American Legion for over 37 years, currently a member at the La Plata Post. She loved to visit Myrtle Beach.
In addition to her parent’s, she is preceded in death by her husband Bobbie L. Lilly, and her brother Patrick Goforth.
She is survived by two brothers; Larry Petrella, and Wayne Goforth, sister, Peggy Breeden-Daudelin, many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and her significant other Danny Hainey.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 10:30 AM until time of service at 12:00 PM, at The Church at St. Charles, 136 Stoddert Avenue, Waldorf, MD 20602. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
