Hazel Bernice Heavener's Obituary
Hazel Bernice Heavener, 83, of Bryans Road, MD, passed away October 28, 2016.
Hazel was the owner/operator of We Care Day Care for 25+ years. She was a also a very active member at First Church of God in Accokeek.
She was the daughter of William Mathews and Maude Jones Mathews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jimmy Van Heavener; her siblings, Leroy, Lewis, Edward, James, William, and Carroll Mathews; Rose Wilson, Louise Hancock, and Estelle Wink; and her grandson, James Hill.
She is survived by her daughters, Bernice Houchin (Robert), Wanda Shafer (Randy), and Patricia Hill (Barry); her brother, Earl Mathews and wife Sandra; her grandchildren, Angela DeLozier (Mark), Chris, Steven (Casey), Vincent, and Scott Houchin (Maneja), Joseph Hill, David Cooper (Chante’), and Jessica Hunt (Caleb). Also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends received on Thursday, November 3, from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Chapel (La Plata, MD). Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens (Waldorf, MD).
Memorials in Hazel’s name are asked to Hospice of Charles County and American Heart Association.
