Mrs. Helen Esther (Cotrufo) Rice's Obituary

Helen Esther (Cotrufo) Rice, 78, of Indian Head, MD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at her home. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on Feb. 22, 1938 to the late Frank Cotrufo Sr. and Margaret (Peggy) Perry Cotrufo.
Helen graduated from Lackey High School Class of 1956. She retired from 34 years of service from the Federal Government in 1995.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Frank Cotrufo Jr.
Helen is survived by her husband of 34 years, Edward Rice; sister Margaret (Cotrufo) Champagne; daughters Karen Lindquist-Williams, Renee (Rice) Martz, and Rochelle Rice and her husband Tom Fellbinger; and son Randy Rice; Grandchildren Michael Williams, Jeremy Rice, Monica Rice, Sean Rice and Tanner Fellbinger; Great-grandchildren Brynn and Blake Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and playing softball, she received the titles of Miss Maypole Queen, Miss Leatherneck, and Miss Fire Prevention at various Indian Head events. She enjoyed travelling with her husband and daily visits to Starbucks visiting with friends. Helen is best remembered for her beauty and elegance and her infectious smile. She never met a stranger and believed in being kind to everyone.
Helen was a devoted cat lover. Many cats were blessed to be loved and cared for by her. She and her husband were active Foster Pet Parents with the C.C. Humane Society and FERAL Cat Program. She was a dedicated community volunteer, a member of the Indian Head Community Activities Committee, NARFE Chapter 126, Meals on Wheels, and the EOD Association.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, 4270 Hawthorne Road, Indian Head. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 29, 11 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf.
All are welcome to attend the Repast immediately following at the Indian Head Village Green Pavilion, 100 Walter Thomas Road.
