Helen Mae Emmerton's Obituary
Helen Mae Emmerton, age 90, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away July 21, 2022 at UF Health in Jacksonville.
Helen was born in Washington, DC to parents Donald Warren McNair and Emmaline Senne McNair. She was Valedictorian of Lackey High School in Indian Head, Maryland. She worked at the US Marshal’s office in Washington, DC prior to moving to Brunswick in 1975. Here, she worked at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and retired as their Chief Financial Officer. Helen was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employers and the Stroke Support Group. She was a member of College Place United Methodist Church. Hobbies included gardening, reading, painting and assisting stroke patients when they went to rehabilitation.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Warren S. Emmerton; her first husband, Charles H. McNinch; a daughter, Donna Marie Emmerton; and two brothers, Donald Ray McNair and Claude McNair.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Ernest McNinch and his wife, Vita, of Kingsland, Georgia and Dale Warren Emmerton and his wife, Dana, of New Glarus, Wisconsin; two granddaughters, Emmaline Cotton of Jacksonville and Hailey McNinch of Kingsland; four grandsons, Charles E. McNinch of Jacksonville and Lance, Andrew and Wyatt Emmerton, all of New Glarus, WI and two great-grandsons, Zachary Cotton of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Braxton McNinch of Jacksonville.
A service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
