Herbert Gene Clark's Obituary
Herbert Gene Clark of Margate, FL, passed away at the age of 73 on July 7, 2016, at his home. He was a Florida resident since 2007 and former resident of Maryland since 1942.
Born on November 13, 1942, in Indian Head, Maryland, he was the son of the late Margaret A. Beavers and Herbert W. Clark.
Mr. Clark entered into the United States Armed Forces in 1961, where he served as an Infantry Op and Intelligence Specialist in Saigon, Vietnam until 1968. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 bronze stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, 3 O/S Bars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Bronze Star Medal and Vietnam Gallantry Medal with 1 Silver Star.
Mr. Clark was a retiree from the Department of Transportation for the Federal Highway Administration in Washington D.C. He was employed for 33 years as a Civil Engineering Technician.
Mr. Clark enjoyed coaching soccer, fishing, playing golf and spending time with who he considered his grandchildren and only great-grandson.
Mr. Clark was a former member of the VFW in Grasonville, Maryland and also in Orange Park, Florida.
He is survived by cousins (considered daughters) Barbara M. Eakle, of Margate, Fl., Michele L. Morrissette of Sudlersville, Md., many other cousins, aunts, uncles, grandchildren Lacey M. Eakle of Orange Park, Fl., Marissa M. Morrissette of Sudlersville, Md., Mackenzie A. Eakle of Marietta, Ga., Kaitlyn L. Morrissette of Sudlersville, Md., Carly M. Eakle of Marietta, Ga., Nicholas J. Morrissette of Sudlersville, Md., and Preston R. McGee of Margate, Fl.,great- grandson, Brent S. Whittney of Orange Park, Fl., nephew James M. Clark of Edgewater, Md., great-nephew Tyler D. Clark of Edgewater, Md., and sister-in-law, Lynn Clark of Wren, W.V.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Paul E. Clark of Wren, W.V., many aunts and uncles.
There will be a visitation on Thursday July, 14, 2016 at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, Md. from 2-4 and 6-8 with a service that will follow on Friday July 15 at 11:00am. Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW in Grasonville, Maryland and Trustbridge Hospice in Boca Raton, Florida.
