James Lloyd Cole's Obituary
James Lloyd Cole, 94, of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Sage Point Senior Living Services in La Plata.
Born on August 12, 1927 in Springhill, Maryland, he was the son of the late Daniel Cole and Annie Gross Cole. James was educated in the Charles County Public School System and later went to work in the construction industry for many years. He also spent many years farming on the Turner Family Farm. James enjoyed fishing, boating, working on cars, playing the guitar, spending time with his family and friends. He was of the Catholic faith and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary D. Cole; daughter Viola Marlene Cole; grandchildren Charles Gurtick Jr., Terrell Yates, and Sade Demory; 12 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; his sister Regina Farmer Cole and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, especially his nephew Abby Cole and wife Shelia Cole, caregiver Agnes Brawner.
Pallbearers will be; Michael Farmer, Andrew Yates, Terrell Yates, John Lyles, Addy Cole, James Wills, and James Washington.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 9AM until time of Mass at 10AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary’s Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, Maryland.
The family would like to express their upmost appreciation to Sage Point Senior Living Services, University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, and the MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for the care of James.
