James "Jim" B. Amerson's Obituary
James B. Amerson (Jim), 93, of Dale City, VA, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2019.
Jim was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran, who served on Saipan in the South Pacific with the 9th Naval Construction Battalion from 1943–1946. Upon discharge from the Navy, he began his career with Sears in the sewing machine and furniture repair shop until his retirement in the mid 90’s.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys (Furbush) Amerson. He is survived by his long-time companion Eleanor Burlison; his sister Geraldine Finnegan; many nieces and nephews.
Jim had a colorful personality and enjoyed dancing and a good “high ball”. He was never short on stories from the good old days, which he was happy to share. He will be in our hearts always.
Visitation on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 10AM to 11AM at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Procession to leave the funeral home at 11:30AM for service and interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.
