James Leo Johnson's Obituary
James Leo Johnson, 96, a resident of Anderson, SC and a former longtime resident of Waldorf, Maryland, husband of the late Dolores G. Johnson, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Everett, PA, he was the son of the late Franklin L. Johnson and Ada Grace Robinette. Jim was a World War II Army-Air Corp Veteran. He worked as a master mechanic in Heavy Construction. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anderson and a former member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Waldorf, MD.
Survivors include two sons, James T. “Tom” Johnson, Sr. (Peggy) and Brian S. Johnson (Laura); four grandchildren, Christine Johnson, James T. “Tommy” Johnson, Jr., Zachary Johnson, and Charles H. “Charlie” Johnson (Gwynn); and two great-grandchildren, Scarlett R. Johnson and Annie Mae I. Johnson. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anderson conducted by Father Philip Gillespie. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
