James "Jamie" Thompson's Obituary
James “Jamie” Thompson passed suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 41 on Sunday, January 1, 2023. Jamie was born on October 28, 1981, in Leonardtown, Maryland. He graduated in 1999 from Leonardtown High School. In 2001 Jamie joined the U.S. Army, where he served his country for 10 and 1/2 years. While serving in the military, he was stationed in Fort Benning, GA, and met his devoted wife, Melissa, in 2002 and they were married the same year. They went on to have their daughter, Jenna, in 2004 and their son, Ethan, in 2008. Jamie was deployed five times over his 10 and 1/2 years of service, which included deployments to Kosovo, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. After serving his country, Jamie left the service to become an instructor for the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Schoolhouse in Fort Huachuca, AZ. He continued his career in Camp Shelby, MS as an Instructor/Operator until he finally made OwensCross Roads, AL his home. Jamie graduated in September 2015 from Colorado Technical College with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a specialization in Web Development. Jamie worked in his current role as a Senior Linux Systems Administrator where he was able to do what he loved best by working in IT. In his downtime, Jamie loved to hang outwith his family, watch and talk about Nascar and Sports with his son, build computers, and play video games with his wife, daughter, and friends. He was always there to talk and help figure out how he could help. He was so humble and was so loved by everyone that had met him. Jamie is survived by his wife Melissa, and his children Jenna (Chris) and Ethan Thompson of Owens Cross Roads, AL. His mother Janet and Stepfather Tony Clements of Hollywood, Maryland, his brother Jeffrey Thompson (Elsie and niece Ileigh) of Glen Cove, FL, Step-siblings Rob Clements of West Palm Beach, Florida, Sam and DeAnna Clements of Camarillo, California, His Aunt Teresa Orencia, Uncle Timothy Reece (Beth), Uncle Ralph Reece of Mechanicsville, Maryland. Father-in-law Klaus Johnson, Sister-in-law Heather Blount (Cody, Niece Makylie, and Nephew Colten) of Columbus, GA. As well as numerous cousins. Preceded in death by Grandparents Eddie and Rosalee Reece, Mother-in-Law Lisa Johnson, and Cousin Kevin Orencia. The Visitation will be Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 12:00 -1:00 PM CST with Services following at 1:00 PM at Hampton Cove Funeral Home located at 6262 US-431, Owens Cross Roads, AL, 35763. Melissa and the children will accept family and friends following the service at Cross Roads Church located at 9177 US-431, Owens Cross Roads, AL, 35763. While flowers are welcomed, monetary contributions to help with expenses the family may incur are also appreciated.
