Jill Eileen Embody's Obituary
Jill Eileen (Leyrer) Embody passed away on June 28, 2024, at the age of 79, at the University of MD Shock Trauma Center, Baltimore, MD. Jill was born on August 20, 1944 in Pottstown, PA . She was one of three children born to Walter Leyrer and Dorothy (Carr) Leyrer. Jill was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Leyrer and is survived by her sister, Tara (Leyrer) Bradley.
Jill attended Pottstown High School, where she met the love of her life, Charles Howard Embody and they were married on September 21,1963. From this union, two daughters were born, Denise Embody Moran and Stacy Embody Tennant.
They began their married life in Rabat Morrocco after Charles joined the Navy. After completion of Charles’ military service, the family moved to Adelphi, MD, from there they moved to Hyattsville, MD and eventually to their final home in Waldorf, MD, where they have lived for over 45 years.
Jill was employed with the Department of the Navy, Washington, DC as an administrative assistant and a computer programmer. Jill loved to travel and had many adventures traveling in their RV, but more importantly than traveling, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, who were her joy and happiness - Tanya Crowe, Ty Tennant and Wyatt Tennant and her great grandchildren, Ayden Crowe, Alexis Crowe and Cameron Tennant.
Family and friends will unite on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 for visitation at 10 a.m.; service at 11 a.m. at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 7 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf, MD. Interment immediately following the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601 (gate time 1:15 p.m.).
