Jimmy Lee Hamilton's Obituary
On Sunday, July 14, 2024, Jimmy Lee Hamilton (59) a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle passed away unexpectedly. Jimmy was born August 30, 1964, in La Plata, Maryland.
Throughout his life he has held many careers. At the age of 16, he began as a volunteer firefighter with the Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department. After completing required Maryland Fire Rescue Institute (MFRI) trainings he worked as a Central Supply Technician, Monitor Technician, Patient Care Assistant, and then later transferred to the Emergency Department as an Emergency Technician with Southern Maryland Hospital. Over the next 18 years, at Fort Washington Medical Center, he remained as an Emergency Technician.
One of his many passions, other than his beloved family, was music. As an avid guitar player, he would fondly replicate the genres of classic rock, blues, country and many more. Some of his favorite artists include B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Vince Gill and Kiss. This love for music led to a career as Guitar Technician (sales) for ten years at the historic Hot Licks Guitar Shop.
After his tenure at the guitar shop, he became a local Pawnbroker mentoring to many and a friend to all at All Pawn and Guns.
Jimmy and his wife Pamela celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on May 23, 2024. He adored his daughters (Amanda Rae and Rebecca) and granddaughter (Amanda Lee). Many memories were created by attending theater shows, softball games, and concerts. He continuously displayed love and support for his family.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his father Jennings Woodrow “Charma” Hamilton and brother Bryan Paul “Hammy” Hamilton. He is survived by his loving mother Shirley Sylvia Hamilton, sister Betty Lou Mudd (John), wife Pamela Maria Hamilton, daughter Amanda Rae Hamilton (Josh), daughter Rebecca Lynn Hamilton, granddaughter Amanda Lee Hamilton, nephew John Hamilton Mudd (Mandy), niece Maggie Mudd-Stewart (David), great nephews Turner and Ian Stewart and great nieces Ellie and Caroline Mudd.
Our family greatly appreciates the enormous amounts of love shown. No words can express how truly grateful we are.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 10am until time of service at 12 noon. Internment, Trinity Memorial Gardens., Waldorf, MD. Repass to follow.
