Joe Barge Cope's Obituary
Joe Barge Cope, 81, of Waldorf, Maryland and formerly of Lancaster, PA went quietly away from us on March 22, 2025 at his home in Waldorf, Maryland.
Born on July 9, 1943 in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Paul R. Cope and Elnora B. Cope of Lancaster, PA.
Joe was a graduate Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) He then served in the U. S. Navy for 3 years until he was Honorably discharged making the rank of LTJG. Joe then went to work as a Meteorologists with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for 35 years before retiring. During his retirement, Joe was an avid reader and a history buff.
Surviving to addition to his wife of 55 years, Deanna Deleon Cope, is Son Joseph husband to Sonia Deleon of Vista, California, Daughter Christina wife of Stacy Coombs of Lusby, Maryland, Brother Pete husband of Cynthia Cope of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, and Sister Judith wife of Robert Sterner of Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Joe is also survived by 5 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren, along with many nephews and nieces whom were all very special to him
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation held on March 31, 2025 from 4PM- 8PM with Prayers at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, Maryland 20646.There will be a Mass service held April 1, 2025 at 10AM at Saint Peters Church 3320 St. Peters Drive Waldorf, Maryland 20601, with Interment immediately following at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
