Obituary for John Garza
John Garza, 87, of Waldorf, Maryland passed away at his home on December 10, 2021.
He was born on August 29,1934 in New Braunfels, Texas to the late Henry Garza and Consuelo Garza.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.
John grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He later joined the Air Force and was stationed at Andrew’s Airforce Base in Maryland. This is where he met the love of his life, Barbara, and made Maryland his forever home. In 1996, he retired from Giant as a meat cutter after working there 18 years and 36 years with the union. Following retirement, he worked part-time at Annapolis Seafood in Waldorf.
John loved his family and friends. He was a selfless man and always thinking of others. He was a Washington Redskins fan and lover of all things Elvis. John was also known for being a great cook and especially famous for his soups and his potato salad.
John is survived by his two daughters Deborah Ann Forbes and Brenda Lee Wilkinson; three grandchildren, Ashley Tomlinson (William), Carter Forbes (Kelli), and Amanda Forbes; six great-grandchildren; sisters Lupe Lopez, Henrietta Acosta (Jesse), Stella Rodriguez, Virginia Vara; brother, Charles Garza; and sister-in-law Lorraine Boccabella. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Ann Garza; son, John Barry Garza; and brother, Joe Garza.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646, where a service will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
