Kathleen Marie Harris' Obituary
Kathleen Marie Harris , 84, of McLean, Virginia, formerly of La Plata, Maryland, passed away on April 17, 2019 at her home.
Born on June 5, 1934 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Annie C. Sierer and Allen H. Sierer. Mrs. Harris was a homemaker and mom who spent her final years in the loving care of her family members. Especially Livia who saw after her every need. A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and friend, she was a devoted traditionalist who loved to provide family and friends with the warmth of a home cooked meal in her beautiful home. Especially known for her “secret ingredient” eggnog on Christmas Eve and meticulously arranged homemade Christmas cookies. All were welcome in her home but it was understood you had to help with the current jigsaw puzzle she kept on her kitchen counter. To Kathleen, summer days were made solely for her many grandchildren to run, play and of course eat. She loved sharing the wonder of travel with her sister Barbara while they explored the world together. Kathleen spent many years working beside her best friend, Will Harris, at their family furniture store, the two of them had a lively group of Oxon Hill High School friends who all had to grow up and raise families. They never lost their teenage spirit and laughter while sharing stories at their monthly lunch club. When she became unable to attend her good friend Sydney would visit and bring lunch. She was a lovely woman who will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her beloved husband Willard Allen Harris Jr.
She is survived by her children Kenneth Harris, Debbie Brickley, David Harris, Glenn Harris; sister-in-law Barbara; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren who all loved her.
Visitation on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 11AM until time of service at 1PM at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646 with Pastor Marvin Harris officiating.
Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Church P. O. Box 1668, White Plains, MD 20695.
