Kathy Lynn Guiffre's Obituary
Kathy Lynn Guiffre (Burkett) 70, of Waldorf MD, was called home to be with the Lord on May 27,2023, surrounded by her loving family. Kathy was born on March 20,1953, in Syracuse NY, to the late Robert and Susie Burkett. She was the beloved wife of Robert Guiffre and the cherished mother of Karie Guiffre, Kevin Guiffre, and daughter in-law Heather Guiffre. She was also the proud grandmother of Bria Thompson, Anthony Guiffre, Madison Guiffre, and Patrick Guiffre, and a great grandmother to Sofia Dyson, Sebastian Dyson, Silas Dyson, and Shane Thompson.
Kathy graduated from Gwynn Park High School on June 6, 1972, and married the love of her life Robert Guiffre just 4 days later and was happily married for 51 years. Afterwards she went on to have a wonderful career in the Prince Georges County School System. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and cousin who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Kathy was a generous woman, known for hosting family and friends around every holiday. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed sharing her delicious food at cookouts, dinners, and church events. She took joy in being a grandmother and great grandmother, who brought the fun to family game night and used her education background to provide expert homework help. Kathy was an active member of First Baptist Church of Waldorf and was outspoken about her love of Jesus.
Kathy is also survived by her sisters in-law Donna Kay Munson, Debbie Guiffre, brothers in-law Jerry Guiffre and wife Ginny, and Kenny Guiffre and wife Lynn, Chip O’Connor, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was proceeded in death by her father Robert Carlton Burkett, mother Susie Jane Burkett, and brother Robert Wayne Burkett.
A funeral service will be held on June 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Waldorf MD. Followed by a burial service at Trinity Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on June 2, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on June 3, 2023, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am also at the First Baptist Church of Waldorf.
