Kenneth Charles Whitaker's Obituary
Kenneth Charles Whitaker, Jr., 39, of Waldorf, Maryland.
Kenneth Charles “KC” Whitaker Jr (39), of Waldorf, MD transitioned to eternal life on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at Southern Maryland Hospital. He was born December 20, 1983 at La Plata Hospital. He was born to mother, Karenette King, and father Kenneth Whitaker Sr. As a child, KC lived in Bryans Road. Kenneth attended Charles County Public Schools. During his time in school, KC was often complimented on how well his mother sent him to school (color coordinated outfit, creased pants, fresh haircut, and a shiny face). Eventually, his grandfather said “no more mammy haircuts” and took over. KC was a member of the Boy Scouts in elementary and JROTC in high school. His interest in the military came from his Veteran grandfather Kleston and his cousin Sabrina who was also in JROTC at Lackey. As an adult, KC worked as a warehouse lead for big companies such as Amazon, Perdue, and the military bases in Indian Head, MD and Dahlgren,Va. Kenneth’s first experience with a baby was caring for his beloved little sister KeVonna, but didn’t become a parent until he was 23. Between 2007 and 2010 he became the father of four children, L’Kya, Tamara, Jaelyn, and his only son K’Vohn. He took great pride in being a father and each of his children have a part of his personality. In 2010, he married DC native Tiffanee Jones.
KC loved all of his grandparents! On the King side, he always spoke of his grandfather Leroy Sr (or Boo Boo as he called him) and how he used to take him to the spring to get water and would always come save him when he got in trouble! His grandmother, Octavia, shares the same birthday with him and would always make him homemade french fries after school. She even had KC participate in a “Tom Thumb” wedding with his best friends Marquita Phillips and Larryka Johnson to raise money for Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. And while Octavia loved all of her grandchildren, everyone believed that KC was her favorite. On the Whitaker side, he was the first grandchild. Kleston and Sally always made sure that he had nice clothes, nice shoes, and a brand-new bike almost every year! And while KC blamed his spoiledness on all four of his grandparents, he also credited them for his cooking and landscaping skills.
If you knew KC, you knew how much he loved to cook, how much he loved landscaping, and how much he loved to dance! When it came to cooking, KC was known to make some of the best chili, collard greens, potato salad, chitterlings, and steak. He would grill in any weather and would trash talk anyone who was around. He credited watching his mother, grandmothers, and uncles cook and grill for his own cooking skills.
When it came to a yard, KC was a master at landscaping. His grandfather Kleston taught him as a child how to cut and maintain any lawn, bush, or tree. KC eventually started a company, Southern Citi Services, with his wife and was able to acquire clients throughout the entire county, even maintaining the median strips for the Strawberry Hills Homeowner’s Association and other businesses and churches in the area.
KC loved to dance! And even though it is well known that he didn’t dance well, he was ALWAYS the life of the party. Whether it was a family event, a small cookout, his mom’s house, or just plain boredom, KC was always blasting music and/or was the first one on the dance floor. He knew all of the popular line dances and when he got into the groove he would yell out his famous “Wooooo-Weeeee” He loved oldies, line dancing, and Junkyard Band! In recent years, he always volunteered to do dance videos with his children.
KC is preceded in death by his grandparents Leroy Sr and Octavia, great-grandmother Hazel, aunts Joyce and Jacqueline, mother-n-Law Pamela, and other aunts, uncles, loved ones, and friends.
KC leaves behind his parents Karenette and Kenneth Sr., sister KeVonna, his wife Tiffanee, his children L’Kya (mother Latishia), Tamara, Jaelyn, K’Vohn, bonus daughter Anniyah, grandparents Kleston and Sarah (Sally), aunts and uncles Doris (Larry), Sharon (Donnell), Sheila (Playboy), Maxine (Jeffrey), Jeanette (Thomas), Octavia (John), Leroy Jr. (Robin), Keith (Deborah), John (Jennifer), and Kirby (Amy), step-brother Adair, step-sister Morghan, father-n-laws, Jesse Jr & Eric Sr, brothers and sisters-n-law Jesse III, Erica, Eric Jr, Donnisha, Angel, and Alicia (Andrew), many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives, friends and other loved ones.
