Leon Mayo Doane Jr.'s Obituary
Leon Mayo Doane, Jr., 96 of La Plata, Maryland, passed away November 24, 2016 at his residence with his family at his side.
Leon was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy, having served from 1937-1959 and went on to serve 30 years with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC as the building manager. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve and was known by most people as "Mr. Fix-It." He was a good husband, father, and grandfather.
He was the son of Leon May Doane, Sr. and Myra Tatum Doane. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Eloise Shepherd Doane; son-in-law, Harry W. Johnson; four brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandy Doane-Johnson and Marcy Doane (of London, England); and granddaughter, Mandy Doane-Johnson.
Friends received on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 5-8PM and where Wake Service will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11AM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Entombment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens Chapel of Hope Mausoleum in Waldorf, Maryland.
