Leonard "Ricky" Franklin Rickett's Obituary
Leonard Franklin “Ricky” Rickett, age 60 of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, passed away on November 28, 2016.
Ricky was born on February 15, 1956, the son of Sam and Shirley Hill.
Ricky was a special man with simple needs in life. He loved holidays, cowboys, horses, and lasso ropes. He also loved 7-11 coffee and his favorite candy was marshmallow peeps and Reese’s peanut butter cups. His hero was John Wayne and he thoroughly enjoyed cowboy movies on TV. Ricky touched many people with his handsome smile and when he loved you, you had a friend for life.
Since April 1975, Ricky was employed by Ardmore Enterprises in New Carrolton, Maryland. For the past three years, he chose to work in the community at the American Rescue Workers warehouse, sorting donations for the Thrift Shop.
Ricky lived in a group home with the same friends and housemates, Eric and Mark, throughout the years. He was well-loved by his family, friends, and care providers from Rescare and the Astoria House who took excellent care of him.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Hill; his brother, Sam Hill (Karen); his sister, Elana Sherman (Glenn), his nephews, Christopher Hill (Julie) and Chase Hill; his niece, Brooke Hainey (Steven); his great-nephew, Pierce Hill; and his great-niece, Paige Hill.
Friends received on Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 2-5PM and where Funeral Service will be on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11AM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
