Lula Jean Todd's Obituary
Lula Jean Todd, 86 of White Plains, Maryland, passed peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, surrounded by her family. Lula was born on March 6, 1938, in Bedford County, Virginia. She was the tenth of twelve children. She often shared the unique detail that her siblings were born in perfect order: boy, girl, boy, girl, all the way down the line.
Lula was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Known for her warmth and generosity, an exceptional cook, she cherished preparing meals for her family and took particular joy in hosting Christmas Eve celebrations, with her famous coconut cake at the center of the festivities.
In addition to her love for family, Lula loved attending church and enjoyed dancing. She treasured her time at the Richard R. Clark Senior Center, where she participated in line dancing classes with friends.
Lula was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul “Jack” Smallwood and James Todd; her long-time partner, Angelo “Jeep” Monachino, Jr.,
her father Albert Tuck, mother Maggie Tuck, sisters Lenora (Sissy) Meador, Lois Kendrick, Pearl Ashwell, Doris Shelton, brothers Kyle, Bill, Willard and Lawson Tuck and her daughter, Vicky Lynn McDonough.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Wickens (Jeff) and Paula McDonough (John); brothers Calvin and Fred Tuck, sister Neoma Howell and her 7 beloved grandchildren, Derek Hurlburt (Anne Marie), Paul Brown (Betty), Robert Brown, Nicki Ellis (Rik), Daniel Brown, Lisa Bowersox (Kyle) and Kacey McDonough; her beloved great-grandchildren, Corie Harder, Trevor Hurlburt, Bradley Hill, Landon and Milo Brown, Jackson Ellis, Madelyn and Lucas Bowersox and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at New Life Church in the Kneeling Point Chapel, located at 9690 Shepherds Creek Place, LaPlata, Maryland on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 am with the service at 12 noon. A private family interment will follow at a later time. Donations may be made to Believe in Tomorrow Children’s Foundation in lieu of flowers.
Lula’s kindness, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
