Mary E. Abraham-Briggs' Obituary
On Tuesday, February 21, 2023 Mary E. Abraham-Briggs of Ft. Washington, MD entered into eternal rest. Family will receive friends on Monday, February 27 at 10 am until the time of funeral service at 11 am at Upper Room Fellowship, 9701 Dangerfield Rd, Clinton, Maryland. Interment Trinity Memorial Gardens.
Mary E. Abraham-Briggs was born on January 12, 1958 in Washington, DC to the late Pastor McDonald Abraham, Sr. and Pastor/Evangelist Annie Bea Abraham.
Graduating from Ballou Senior High School in 1976, Mary decided to attend American University where she graduated with a BS in Business Administration. Shortly after graduation, Mary embarked on a successful career in accounting. After several years working in corporate accounting, Mary established her own tax accounting practice in the mid-90s, Abraham-Briggs & Associates. There she provided accounting, bookkeeping, and tax preparation services for individuals and churches. Mary also became a licensed realtor, real estate broker and trusted advisor.
Mary met her soulmate Kevin Briggs in 1992. The two wed in marriage in 1994. Mary and Kevin devoted their lives to serving Christ and being a blessing to the kingdom of God. Mary’s love was so intense for the people of God that she gave tirelessly of her time, talents, and resources to literally everyone in need...unconditionally.
A faithful and long-standing member of the Upper Room Fellowship, Mary had a serious love for children and worked in the youth ministry for many years. Mary taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School; helped lead the children’s choir; and led both the youth dance ministry, as well as their regular arts performances.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband, Kevin Briggs; her steadfast and committed children, Makeela, Pierre and Amber; grandchildren, Brianna, Remiel, Prince, Chozen, Heaven, Lucio, Cam, Max, Suede; remaining brothers, sisters and their spouses Ruth Marie Young, Franklyn and Louberta John, Gloria Abraham, Joe Williams, Isaiah and Barbara Abraham, and Mark Abraham. Two sisters in law: Luann Abraham and Lula Mae Jackson. Loving Cousin: Weldon Askins. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy Jackson, Elroy Jackson, Johnny Jackson Sr., McDonald Abraham, Jr. and Timothy Abraham, and her sisters Judy Forrester; Linda, Corrine and Orrine Abraham, and Martha Falls.
She also leaves to cherish her memory aunts, uncles, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones. Mary you will be greatly missed.
